Divine
forces operate in enigmatic ways, urging us to maintain our faith steadfastly,
even amidst the most formidable challenges.
Desiree
and Ryan Fortin had always dreamed of becoming parents. Thus, after exchanging
vows, their natural inclination was to start a family. Regrettably, this
endeavor proved to be far more challenging than they had anticipated.
Desiree
was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, hypothyroid, and low progesterone, and
no matter how hard they tried, the results were always disappointing.
In
a heartfelt Facebook post detailing her challenges, Desiree shared, "It
wasn't merely the inability to conceive. Infertility brought forth more tears
than I ever imagined possible... I found myself on the bathroom floor,
overwhelmed by emptiness, confronted by the recurring disappointment of
negative pregnancy tests. Enduring shots, bruises, and a barrage of medications
became routine because when you're battling infertility and turn to fertility
treatments, that's the harsh reality. It's a costly and draining journey,
taxing physically, emotionally, and mentally."
After
exhausting other options, they opted for medical intervention, and Desiree
underwent an IVF procedure. Their prayers were answered at last. The treatment
yielded success, and Desiree found herself pregnant. What came as an even
greater blessing was the news of not just one, but three babies. It surpassed
all their expectations, and in that moment, their lives felt whole and
fulfilled.
The
pregnancy posed significant challenges. Given Desiree's petite stature, doctors
expressed concerns that she might struggle to carry her triplets to term. Yet,
she defied their expectations. At 34 weeks and one day, she underwent a
C-section, proving the medical professionals wrong.

In
the summer of 2015, babies Sawyer, Jack, and Charlize saw the light of the day.
They weighted 5 pounds each.
Desiree
wasn't able to meet her bundle of joys immediately due to needing an additional
surgery, but Ryan ensured they FaceTimed every day to stay connected.
”I’ll
never forget my delivery day. Like all things involving parenthood, there were
unexpected turns. After the triplets were delivered, Ryan went with them to the
neonatal intensive care unit and I was sent to recovery‚” Desiree told Today.
”We
are blessed, but parenting is also a hard job filled with the greatest of
responsibilities — caring for tiny humans. Our babies have severe reflux and
colic — times three. Getting into a routine is difficult, as is maintaining
your relationship amid crying babies, sleepless nights and a new routine,” she
said.
Today,
their children have grown up and eagerly anticipate welcoming new siblings into
their lives. Indeed, Desiree and Ryan are preparing to embark on parenthood
once more, showcasing yet another testament to the importance of perseverance
in life.
