Scottish
farmer Steve had a small herd of dairy cows. One day, he noticed that Lila, who
typically produced the most milk, was suddenly dry. The veterinarian assured
him that the cow was healthy, so Steve decided to observe Lila more closely in
the pasture near the forest.
He
soon noticed that Lila sometimes wandered into the forest in the evenings,
prompting him to follow her. Steve usually took his cows to graze in a clearing
near the forest, and when he saw Lila lagging behind the herd, he discreetly
followed. Moving carefully to avoid scaring her, he eventually came to a hidden
clearing surrounded by trees. There, he saw Lila standing a short distance
away, blocking something from view.
Steve
came closer and saw a small calf. It seemed that Lila had brought it to the
clearing a few weeks ago, as if trying to hide it from people. It took the
farmer about ten minutes to understand the reasons for this situation.
Typically, they would take all calves away and raise them separately from the
adults before eventually integrating them into a new herd.
"It
seems that Lila was not very happy with this development of events," Steve
explained to reporters. As a result, the calf was left with the cow. This
experience led Steve to rethink his plans for running the farm.
