ROYAL TRAGEDY Heartbreak For King Charles. With Heavy Hearts, We Announce The Passing

Captain Ian Farquhar, a cherished friend of the king, regrettably passed away at the age of 78.

Ian had long been a close friend to King Charles and Queen Camilla. He earned further distinction by serving as the Queen Mother’s rider.

Known as a renowned hunter and a superb horseman, Ian proudly served in the Queen’s Own Hussars.

The King, who is already grappling with his own cancer diagnosis, is deeply saddened by this loss. This comes shortly after the passing of Lord Jacob Rothschild, who was 87.

Back in 2000, when Prince William was on leave, he dated Ian’s daughter, Rose Farquhar. The young couple enjoyed romantic picnics in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.

Ian Farquhar spent many years leasing a farmhouse on the Gloucestershire estate of King’s Highgrove.

Stephen Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s first husband, told the Daily Mail that Ian had been very ill. Andy, another close friend, shared that Ian passed away early Wednesday morning at Highgrove.

Andy spoke warmly of Ian, recalling that he was “always a lot of fun, but as wild as a hawk when he was young.” He also mentioned that Ian would go down in history as “one of the great Masters of Hounds.”

Ian was the revered Master of the Beaufort Hunt for an impressive 34 years.

The Beaufort Hunt took to Instagram to honor their former mentor, Captain Ian Farquhar.

“Sending our love and condolences to the family and friends of our own Captain Ian Farquhar breaks our hearts,” they shared. “He gave us 34 years of outstanding leadership before passing away quietly this week.

“Many in the hunting community revered him as ‘Captain.’ He was always welcoming, helpful, and ready to offer anyone who asked excellent, progressive advice.

“Anyone who was fortunate enough to spend time with Ian and hear about his extraordinary and adventurous life in the army and as a hunter will cherish those memories forever. Ian had a sharp sense of humor.”
