I
can only imagine the immense, relentless pressure that most celebrities grapple
with in their daily lives.
Criticism
concerning one's work is unavoidable and, at times, perhaps even warranted.
Clearly, no artist will produce something universally adored every time, just
as entertainers will inevitably have off nights on occasion.
While
fans voicing their opinions is expected for someone in the spotlight, in this
day and age, it's disheartening that we haven't moved past personal attacks or
online trolling.
Regrettably,
we haven't progressed as much as we'd hoped, and the internet has become an
amplifying megaphone in a digital town square bustling with millions.
Celebrities not only face the possibility of encountering unhappy fans in their
daily routines but also endure a constant stream of comments whenever they
choose to engage with their social media platforms.
Over
the weekend, Halle Berry was starkly reminded of the internet's harshness after
she posted a breathtaking nude photo of herself.
It's
safe to say that Halle Berry caused a stir on Saturday when she shared a photo
of herself standing on a balcony, sipping a glass of wine, and wearing... wait
for it... nothing at all.
The
56-year-old Academy Award-winning actress captioned the picture with: "I
do what I wanna do."
While
a considerable number of comments were positive, with many people cheering
Berry on, there were inevitably some negative remarks as well.
A
particular individual took offense to Berry's nude photo, commenting,
"Imagine still posting nudes for attention in your 50s, during menopause,
when you should be enjoying time with your grandkids. Aging with dignity seems
to be a lost concept."
Considering
Berry's longstanding status as an A-lister, it wouldn't be surprising if she
chose to ignore her detractors, dismissing them with the indifference they
warrant.
However,
the Catwoman star is not made of that same fabric.
No,
the Hollywood star responded in a way that her followers found absolutely
hilarious.
The
"Monster's Ball" actress retweeted the post with her own comment,
stating, "Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its
head?"
One
Twitter user shared, “As someone roughly your age... keep living your best life
and sharing whatever the heck you want when you want.”
Another
user wrote, "Imagine getting upset because a beautiful woman is proud of
her body. Couldn't be me."
Actress
Audra McDonald commented, "You won the internet today with this clap
back."
Indeed,
Berry's response to the troll garnered far more love than the initial comment,
as expected.
I,
for one, appreciate it when narrow-minded would-be bullies are rightfully put
in their place.
Do
you admire Halle Berry and her work? Do you believe she made any misstep by
posing nude for the aforementioned photo?
